Christopher M. Schafbuch

Attorney

Chris is a complex commercial litigation generalist with experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in matters involving real estate, construction, insurance coverage, bankruptcy, employment, price fixing and other anticompetitive conduct, intellectual property, and cryptocurrency. An efficient and strategic advocate, he has fought and won in state and federal trial courts across the country. He also has substantial experience guiding clients through appeals, which are often necessary in the most important cases.

Clients trust Chris because he approaches every matter with a keen understanding of how to build a case at trial that can also succeed on appeal. This approach gives his clients the greatest chance of ultimately achieving their goals—whether that means protecting a victory or correcting a life-changing error. Chris has represented clients in cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, Second Circuit, Fourth Circuit, Sixth Circuit, Seventh Circuit, and Ninth Circuit.

Clients also value Chris for his rare insight into the judicial decision-making process. Prior to joining CH&, Chris served as a law clerk to Judge Salvador Mendoza, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, Judge Madeline C. Arleo of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, and Judge Julie H. Becker of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Simply put, Chris knows which issues courts care about and what arguments to make—or omit—with everything on the line.
