Washington State Liquor Control Board Denies Extended Alcohol Service Hours
Late last Wednesday, the Washington State Liquor Control Board (WSLCB) denied a request by the City of Seattle which would allow them to extend the hours of alcohol service in local jurisdictions.
Under Washington Administrative Code 314-11-070, liquor sales are prohibited between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. City of Seattle officials were seeking to add a new section to the Code that would allow local governments to petition the WSLCB to establish extended hours of alcohol service within local jurisdictions. In its split decision, 2-1, the WSLCB denied the request. According to Washington State law, the WSLCB sought input from the public, law enforcement, city officials and others as it considered revising the rule.
