Software Development, Licensing and Distribution
We are Microsoft's principal outside counsel in support of the volume licensing channel, its core distribution channel. We've negotiated billions of dollars of licenses, and managed numerous complex licensing initiatives.
Digital Media
We managed and led negotiations to obtain rights from newspapers and magazines worldwide to distribute their content in digital format through Amazon's Kindle. We were one of the first in the country to obtain rights from major record labels to distribute music over the Internet in our role supporting Loudeye. We are currently assisting Microsoft with leading-edge wireless distribution technologies for copyright protected digital content. We represent Valve Corporation, one of the world's leading independent video game developers and online distributors of video gaming content, in a wide range of transactional and IP matters.
Wireless Technologies and Services
We are outside counsel to SinglePoint (formerly Wireless Services Corporation) and have analyzed, drafted and negotiated a wide variety of wireless content, advertising and messaging contracts in support of their platforms and services, including contracts with major television networks and carriers. We have also acted as outside counsel to Amazon's wireless client and widget distribution initiatives, including distribution and development contracts with major carriers and device manufacturers.
Internet, E-Commerce, Cloud Computing
We have acted as counsel for Amazon's Business Solutions, its industry leading seller-side e-commerce offerings. We have also counseled Amazon with respect to Amazon Web Services, which is quickly becoming the global leader in cloud computing. We support Microsoft's Azure and Office 365 cloud computing programs within their volume licensing channel. We represented Expedia in multiple e-commerce initiatives, including managing relationships with their thousands of participating hotels. We have developed and negotiated customer contracts for various ASP "white label" services including for clients such as Loudeye and Expedia.
Technology Procurement and Outsourcing
We have deep experience procuring complex communication systems, software (CRM, ERP, utilities and others), and services on behalf of clients including Microsoft, Expedia and Amazon. For example, we negotiated the global outsourcing of certain professional services by Microsoft to Accenture, in what is perhaps one of the largest outsourcing arrangements in the world.
